Premiere of my new work "If Not In This World" for the WW1 Armistice centenary
I had the privilege and honour of having my new composition If Not In This World premiered on November 10th in Bendigo, and November 11th 2018 in Melbourne. The piece was commissioned by Timothy Phillips and the Arcko Symphonic Ensemble to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of World War One.
If Not In This World is a work for tenor, soprano and chamber orchestra. It is the setting of a letter written by my great-great uncle, Private Leslie Robins, to my great-great grandmother in August 1916, six months before his death on the Western Front on February 5th, 1917. The work also includes correspondence between my great-great grandmother, Emma Robins, and A.I.F Headquarters.
