Andrew is also excited to announce a special collaborative work that he is about to start working on with American poet Jamaal 'Versiz' May.
Versiz is one of the top spoken word artists in the United States. He has travelled coast to coast performing at cafes, festivals, colleges and universities. As a producer he has worked with M1 of dead prez, Umar Bin Hassan of the Last Poets, Professor Griff of Public Enemy, Jessica Care Moore-Poole and many other artists. The composition will be for poet and orchestra, and arose after a discussion between Andrew and Versiz's manager, Khalid El Hakim a while back. Andrew is very enthusiastic about composing this new concert work, as it's been some time since he has written a large work on this scale.
Andrew will be initially collaborating with Versiz via email, as the two send ideas back and forth across the net. Once, however, the piece becomes more consolidated, Andrew envisages a trip to the States in 2009.
